SEBASTIAN TIANBINI

form + function

What is good design?

8 MIN READ – Sebastian Tianbini stresses that good design transcends aesthetics by balancing the forces of form and function. He equates designers to both artists and technicians, who communicate ideas, evoke emotions, and create meaningful experiences by blending creativity with a deep understanding of rules and systems.

Rep your fave artist without being mid.

Tianbini discusses “Stuck Song Syndrome,” explaining how ‘ear-worms’ are rooted in our emotions and memories, tapping into our instinct for making meaning and storytelling. Whether they’re the songs we love or annoying jingles, they reveal a lot about us, hinting at our needs to process dreams, emotions, and cultural identity.

Accessibility Collection

Access what?

Tianbini makes an argument for how the inconvenient obligation of designing for accessibility leads us to great universal design principles. Sharing a classic example, Tianbini describes how the invention of curb-cuts to accommodate wheelchairs in the ’70s was initially resisted, and yet, was ultimately accepted as beneficial for all.

“I can’t believe all of the weird stuff on this site. I love it! I ended up buying so many things, I have to change my clothes three times a day.”

JANIE RUNAWAY

“I’ve learned to not take myself so seriously after reading the content here. I think I might start eating meat again and I don’t think they even mentioned food once.”

KEVIN (from Marketing)

“I don’t care that Sebastian Tianbini isn’t real. There’s something so real about the message. I’ve contemplated going vegan for the sixth time now.”
